On May 5th several pilot whales stranded themselves off of Cudjoe Key in the Florida Keys. Two were released quickly back into the ocean. Five were brought to the Marine Mammal Conservancy in Key Largo. They were (and are still) looking for volunteers to keep the whales afloat. Angela and I volunteered for the 4am to 8am shift a couple of mornings. At that time there were still 4 (1 had been euthanized). Updates and info on volunteering can be found on their website http://marinemammalconservancy.org/.
